To Eat or Not To Eat: Sleeping Tip #5


Ahhhh… the great debate. Should you eat before you go to bed? YES!!!
The trick is what you put in your body before bed. Do NOT eat carbs before you go to bed. Ideally, you don’t want to eat much carbs after 6pm anyway. You want to focus more on protein. No, I do not mean a glass of milk, because milk is a carb not a protein. So, what do I recommend? 
If you like cottage cheese then eat it! If you like nuts then eat them! Just make sure that whatever protein you are eating you keep it to 200 calories or less. The idea of eating before bed is to allow our metabolism to burn through the night, which helps weight. Furthermore, allowing our body to have some good calories before bed reduces the amount of cortisol released in your body allowing you to have more pleasant dreams and move through your sleep cycles. 
What time should you be eating this last snack, or meal? 90 minutes to 2 hours before your desired time to go to sleep. 
Please, note that if you are craving carbs later at night then you probably did not get enough during the day but REMEMBER YOU  CANNOT MAKE UP FOR CARB DEFICIT AT NIGHT! Stick to the protein at night!
