I have seen many, many people who don’t think they can change. You might even be saying, “yeah-yeah, this all works for everyone else but not me.” Hold on there just one second… The reality is that whatever you think you can’t change you actually can. Science has proven this and I have seen it hundreds and thousands of times with my own eyes!
I want to share two stories of people who didn’t think they could change and boy-oh-boy did they change! First story is of Beth, a 72- year old lady. She was told she had early signs of dementia and had gained over 50lbs. She totally reversed it all, and she discovered that it wasn’t dementia; rather, it was just poor health! The second incredible story is of Jim, a 42-year old man. He was a businessman who didn’t think he had the time to change and reverse his diagnosis of pre type 2 diabetes. Let’s dive in …
Beth was told that because of her memory loss and lack of ability to focus that she was experiencing early signs of dementia. Her brain felt cloudy and her body was feeling heavier and heavier as she had gained 50lbs over a few years. Beth said to me, “ It’s all out of my control. I don’t even know why I’m seeing you, if I can’t control this.” My response was, “Beth, it totally makes sense what you are saying but will it hurt to try to change one thing in your life and see what happens?” She was okay with trying just one thing.
I noticed she was not drinking any water at all (about 20-30 ounces per day). So, we started here. I knew if she could start drinking more water she would feel a little relief and want to change other aspects. Through some simple tricks and tips I got her drinking over 80 ounces of water in few weeks time. She then stated, “ I want more. I want to do more!” We then went step by step of learning new habits and creating healthy grooves. After a few months of learning new tasks, at the whopping age of 72, she lost her 50lb
s and was feeling more sharp mentally! In fact, she said, “ I feel like I’m thinking like I did in my prime.” To me, she was just discovering her prime still existed!
Jim barely could make time for a coaching consultation. We had to consult over the web while he was in another country on a 2 week business trip. I was pretty straight with Jim and let him know that even as busy as he was he could start somewhere and notice change. Jim was kind of upset as his wife pressured him to consult with me. I let him know I had no interest in working with him if he wasn’t willing to try just one thing. He again reminded me he was very busy, very important, and unsure he could commit to anything. I said to Jim, “yes you are important and you are first and foremost important to your own self. You are seriously killing yourself and about to experience more changes if you don’t reverse your pre diabetes. Will you just try one thing with me and then I’ll walk you through the rest when you say you’re ready?” It took some motivating but he got there. I taught him to slow down his eating process. He had been eating so fast and wondering why he was eating tons of food and oftentimes foods he didn’t even like. He was eating a lot of garbage because he was just burning through food. I taught Jim the strategies of how to slow down his eating. He noticed that after taking two weeks to slow down his eating he had lost 7lbs and more importantly was feeling more energy. I had told him not to contact me again until he tried what we discussed and saw small success. So, he rang me up and pretty much yelling on the phone, he said, “ I got this, I just need your help.” Interestingly, he requested a 2 hour consultation. I thought he didn’t have time! 🙂 I mean after all he was super busy and important. What happened is that he began to see that he was important and reversing the pre diabetes diagnosis was the best way to show himself he was important. After a few months his blood sugar levels reversed, he lost 35 lbs, and was feeling more productive at work. He said something so profound, “ Drew, I feel like I can work less hours each day because my brain is tuned in and I focus, and think, faster and clearer.”

There are so many was to go about starting your transformation. The key is to know that you can change, and if you cannot yet believe that, just try one thing that you find I’m teaching. Learn and understand what I teach about habits. It’s so true and so real that you can change any habit you want. It might take some time and patience but it pays off BIG TIME!
